“I have some great news to share with EDI. Back in 2008, I was first exposed to the World Affairs Council through my group Community Service Project with my EDI team. We did a fundraiser, which was actually one of the biggest lessons in teamwork I’ve ever learned (and I’ve used the example several times in interviews). After the project and graduation, I was looking for an organization to be involved with as part of my MBA Program at Seattle University. I needed to practice leadership in public speaking as part of the Leadership Formation Certificate Program.Elaine Chang put me in touch with the World Affairs Council Global Classroom Program. After I completed the MBA Program, I joined the World Affairs Council Young Professionals International Network (YPIN), and applied for a Board position. I have been volunteering my time as a Board Member for the last year, and was just elected to be Board President this year! As YPIN Board President, I also sit on the Board of Trustees for the World Affairs Council. This is my first formal board role and I’m very excited! I just wanted to thank EDI for making this opportunity possible, and for giving me the skills and confidence to take leadership roles in the community.”
- Gloria Chang, Class of 2008,
